hedland? IE Port Hedland 1600 K`s north of Perth WA, then the tow mob headed east into the never never.
You will work it out with the spelling....qwoozing lol.
Last weekend saw us about 1020 km one way from hedland ! Auski, Parnngurr Georgia bore We was way out east out on the tallawanna track about 90 km from windy corner for a recovery of a damaged vehicle , yes their is a fine line between isolation and isolated , beautiful country still wet on the salt lakes and very mushy slightly off the track , we took two 79 s v8 landcruisers , one a MDT 6x6 with 680 LTrs of diesel and a 4x4 extracab with 386 LTD’s diesel with a recovery trailer. Topped up at auski and launched east across the very wet royhill road ! After already having several delays for wet weather and more wet weather due later in the week we pushed on ,after we tossed the coin , the road getting drier the further east we went , speeds reduced greatly once we got on the canning due very large correlation less than 10 kmph in places with a max of 40 some serious water has flowed in parts and bog cog at idle was frequently used , the salt pans had water not deep but 4-6 meters across the edges mushy under foot !!! With over 300 meters of recovery strap on board , winches front and rear we took the calculated chance ! And it wasn’t that bad once threw the water. Lots of dead camel carcasses near one of the springs , presumably from dehydration and some very healthy large dingos , we signed in at Georgia bore and kept on into the nevernever, the track got better but still had lots of spinifex and over grown shrub and bush , spent most of the day in second gear , wheeling around trees and shrubs found our customer with a message left on the window.....solo rider heading to Warburton .. wow !!! Loaded up and started heading home ward , now the deliema is having a recovery trailer high enough off the ground to traverse ruff country but a low centre of gravity ....let’s say with a 79 dual cab loaded on the trailer we saw some very interesting angles pop up in my mirrors from the combination of the ute and trailer suspensions , yes at more than one stage the centre rear view mirror on the casualty was clearly visible in my side mirrors!,! .... ultra slow crawling over the ruff stuff in 1 st gear low range ..I didn’t want it to have any momentum ... slow and steady back to the canning and even slower across them corrugations... inevitably our first puncture on “lunch” the 6x6 with a stick in the side wall , followed shortly after by a snapped spring set on the trailer ! All leaves snapped threw at the centre bolt! No Biggy chained it in placed and blocked it as we were nearly back to Parnngurr , qwoozed back to Newman looking for a feed and shower to no avail a tad to late
All accommodation booked out, so back in the swags and then home to Hedland , still had heaps of fuel with both utes showing 2045 km travelled each unsupported , we stopped roughly to check for spinifex build up underneath and checked wheel nuts mornin noon and night, often nipping up one or two
