Hi,
looking for a flight for pintail this coming season.
Willing to shoot other ducks to make a package up but aim is to shoot a few pintail.
Group of 6-8 people.
Please pm me if you have any details
Cheers will
A few of us in the group have shot a lot of other ducks just never managed to get onto the pintail so want to tick it off the listMay i ask why pintail Will ?
To be honest you’ll be needing to get out on the mud to get a flight on them, they’re not land lubbers, would suggest you contact your local wildfowling club to see if you can get a day out as paying guests with a guide out on the mud if you've not done it before as a full day with a tide in the middle you can then shoot the up and the down best chance for pinniesA few of us in the group have shot a lot of other ducks just never managed to get onto the pintail so want to tick it off the list
Meant to be very good eating, perhaps you felt less guilty after that? Feel the same about Gadwell.Only ever seen them on the shore and then just a few. Only ever managed to get one and then I felt guilty.
We've got 30,000 ducks in the Moray Firth and only 200 Pintail. That's nearly like finding the proverbial pin in a haystack. I've seen a couple flying when out on the mud once in 20 years. In fact I've seen a kingfisher in the Beauly Firth more often
Inland when they arrive I tend to see groups of 20+Shooting Pintail is not like a fed pond situation where the birds are drawn in for the corn/tatties etc.
The foreshore is the place to get them and they do not turn up in numbers on a foreshore flight as mallard, teal and wigeon will on an inland flight pond.
Beautiful birds and they do not give themselves up easily.
Which is a good thing.
Cheers
