What inside leg would a true “plus 4” be , on average, if they weren’t made to measure? I’m after a pair of plus 4’s 36” waist but don’t want standard breek length

you could measure yourself? Crouch to four inches below the knee (hence the name, where you want them to fasten).

It would be 8 inches below the knee for plus four, four inches down and four back up,if I have misunderstood you my apologies,w

Correct. Generally you simply measure the inside leg to where you want the attachment below the knee and the tailor ‘pluses four’ to get the fabric length.

Dont skimp on length in my experience. You want the fabric to remain folded and downwards facing even when walking - so the drips of rain fall off!

Mine are 28" from crutch to where the buckle is to fasten them. 31" inside leg for normal trousers, so if you need to measure, somewhere about the top of your ankle would be about right.

Thanks for the replies. I have been looking at a few pairs on eBay but they have a 20” inside leg measurement so more “breeks” than plus 4’s

Measure to your ankle, should be spot on. As someone above has said, house of bruar do good length off the peg plus fours.

Following a incredibley generous offer from dog123 I now have a pair of genuine plus 4’s ! Thanks for the replies and thanks again to dog123.

Indeed. But do be careful chaps - the more “gifted” who limp walk among us need to make sure that nothing is protruding, ye ken….
