Portable high seat fitting ratchet strap.

Came to move a portable high seat today to a better placed tree. I had trimmed the upper most obstructions out of the way with a pruning saw and placed the seat against the tree. Climbing up the ladder I could not get the tie strap around the trunk. Previously I have walked it around the bottom of the trunk with an extension rope and then shimmied it up the trunk. In this case there were too many obstacles. I have also used the quad sticks before to pass the strap around.
I eventually tied the top of the seat to a branch above it and then climbed into the tree which worked but all seemed a little precarious.
I would welcome any ideas from other users as to what other things i might try.

All my lean-to seats use 1-2 ratchets straps, when I move them or set a new one I have a step ladder which opens up to a extension ladder. I use 5 ton straps and have pinned the straps with small brad nail the height of the fixings which makes the will to live after failed attempts a little longer lol....

I have 6 seats which I shot those positions off quad sticks first before I made my mind up to fix a seat there.

Climb up tree. Throw belt around as far as possible and let it catch an obstacle. Move ladder around tree, repeat. Remembering to tie the hook at the front of the tree otherwise it will involve lots of swearing.
That may do it for you. If you can move the ladder round a bit.

The one i was struggling with was by a river and a long way from the road. I have some steps that open to a ladder which would be helpful if i can drive close
I think i will leave some rope around the tree when i move it, as no doubt i will be back at some point.

This, and use auto retracting ratchet straps like this. Adds a bit of weight to one end if you need to swing it around the tree.

It’s all I use now for any suitable application. The mechanism can get crudded up after a while but they’re cheap enough on Eblag to almost treat as a consumable.
