Portable high seat

I've got one from reeves which is the same design as the bushwear one and many others out there, it's ok, but way more expensive than the others, and I will say this, on any of the lighter weight ones you find there is flex in the shooting rest bar, and it does my head in, that and the fact you really can only use the rest for shooting directly in front of you, not much use for sideways shots. Just my two pence worth....

I found that with my one from Reeves...which I've had for many years now. I got round it by using a stick or an extending pole used across the rails to act as a brace.... and something to lean on nearer to the ladder's centre of gravity rather than right out over the front bar.. When putting it up I always check that the 'teeth' of the trip grip plate are making good 'square' contact with the tree to reduce flex and wobble... ie the position of the ladder's feet are square to the point of contact.

I usually shoot right handed and for shots out to my right I just slip out of the seat and stand on a lower rung using the back line of the seat for support.

Cheers
