I see the Post Office has bought 3500 electric vehicles, I was talking to an acquaintance from the PO a while ago, the PO have the biggest van fleet in the country and he said it would take the output of a power station to charge them if they all went to EV.

Deutsche Post funded the development of a special for a postal ev vehicle the company based in Aachen later went bankrupt, the evs are still being used to deliver but our posties say they are a crock of poo to drive and needed spares will never be available, whole project was just a waste of tax payers schekels.

Our post office has been using electric vans for a year now. Our postie hates them. At this time of the year he can't use the heater or radio because he runs out of power before he finishes his round. He's broken down several times blocking the single track roads for a couple of hours waiting for recovery.
He was in a diesel van this morning, much happier.

They’ll probably work in an urban/suburban setting, not ideal for rural life.
We had a bit of snow this week, 4 days later there are still people with no power or water, add no transport and an “A” rated house to the list and you’ve got an uninhabitable home plus no way to get out of it.
Electricity is easily our most fragile utility.
The Greens tend to forget that, being mostly based in cities.

...all rural. Hence the need to brake hard on occasions!......oncoming tractors and the like!

As a child we had 2x milkmen delivering along our road.

Diesel one was left running as he delivered the milk spoiling my sleep.

Electric milk float no issues, all peaceful.
Huh, listing to a diesel ticking over or a burbling V8 petrol is what I play on my phone to send me off into a perfect sleep.

Alternatively in this cold I can listen to the air source whirring away wondering when that's going to pack up! And not drift off to sleep.
Diesel every time, we need the carbon 👍🏻

My 7.5 T recovery truck was an EX Unigate Dodge it came with 3 Ramps, great as you could jack up the front end of a car with a trolley jack that in turn followed the middle ramp. Some work we did was commercial dept recovery when the director would leave the wheels with the steering lock full on and stand there with the keys in his hand smirking.
10 mins later it was loaded lol

They’ll save up the money by not buying long pants for their staff.
