Pre clipboard, ‘Elfin safety’ launch

I saw that the MV Hebridean Isles has been decommissioned after forty years of service. Having been over to Islay a few times on it this brought back a memory or two.

I hadn’t realised however that it had been built in Selby, Yorkshire. :british: Something our political
class may wish to ponder, up here our ‘boat and road’ initiative has gone precisely nowhere toward addressing the needs of the country they wish to rule..

Anyway, here’s a wee video showing the method of launch. I’m guessing the hard hats might have gotten in the way as the men ducked under the keel, nor can I see a bean counter standing with clipboard. I’m guessing that Comrade Kim’s recent ‘flop’ at his shipyard was a bit short of the Selby secret sauce!
Enjoy:

Having stood all day in HMNB(D) (Devonport for the initiated) today in orange overalls, hard hat (with ear muffs), safety glasses, cut-proof gloves and hiv-viz jacket, watching the first deployment of a new maritime evacuation system on board HMS BULWARK, you are dammed right that H&S has certainly moved on a bit! Last week I refreshed my Site Induction safety brief so that yesterday I could pick up my new Site Safety pass, without which you cannot set foot in the dockyard, I then had to do a ship-specific safety brief to get another access pass for the vessel, and today, we were given yet another safety brief before going up the gangway. Over my last 49 years, H&S has certainly changed…….
