Prizewinners for Supporters club draw - May, 2022. It's that time of the month again, when we get to announce the winners of this months prize draw. Remember there are two gift vouchers from 1967spud reloading supplies now. In a very particular order, as selected by the electric random number generator:-
At the time of draw there were 389 members.

.24lee
gets a £100 gift voucher from 1967spud

Big_Sparky
gets a £100 gift voucher from 1967spud

tozzybum
wins a set of shooting sticks from limulus

Oh dear another upset…….still it keeps us entertained…….can’t wait for next month’s results :cry:keep your chin up !

I’m stunned! Never won anything before .. thank you very much spud 1967

At the risk of appearing churlish...and let's not shy away from the fact, that that is exactly what I am, when it comes to this monthly travesty.

The prizes are 'paid' for by the Supporters' Subscriptions.

The vouchers are merely redeemed at Spud's.

Anyhoo, I am furious delighted that someone other than myself has won. Again.

Anyway, I am saving all my luck up for this year's GWCT Draw - William Powell Shotguns

The odd are 1,500:1 but I am fairly sure that this Ticket - No. 55 - is going to be the winner...

It was only recently that I found out the vouchers from Spud were not donated by him.
I always thought the prizes were donated by members of the site not bought.

I don't think you are an unintelligent man, but given a 1 in 389 chance per month, I think that might be a 1:32 per year 50:50 chance. So maybe after 64 years you might start to wonder whether you had lost out. Or maybe it's just 32 years. Or however the dice roll.

Of course, the supporters' club donations are also put to other good uses Such as bursaries for DSC qualifications and "free" stalks for deserving people. And keeping this forum going,. All good things.

389 supporters at £24 per year = £9,336. Minus £200/month in vouchers (disregarding Limulus's contribution, freely donated I presume) leaves about £4,500/year remaining to be disbursed. Or retained for other purposes

Hardly a huge sum of money.

I would commend the offering, not that I have yet subscribed, but long been thinking about doing so. I think it is a pretty straight-up thing, that might benefit from a little more explanation about where the money goes, to encourage us. But that is of course a private matter amongst the owners.

Not that I know anything about game theory.

What would be the cost of hosting such a site, with all of it's traffic ?

Sponsored DSC1 places ?

I don't know, but regardless, the SD isn't run as some CO-OP, owned by the members, and accountable to them. It's a platform offered to anyone who wishes to use it, free of charge, or with the option of paying a small contribution each month, to offset the running costs.

As a trade member, I pay £10.00 pm, which allows me to advertise to the community. Hardly unreasonable.

I would expect the end game, to sell out to one of the big media players, where the site will be used as an advertising platform. Seen this before, and nothing wrong with it.

£1.50 a week shouldn't really be out of reach of many on here, some are paying that much per cartridge and it is certainly a lot less than a pint of beer.
My hands reach the bottom of my pocket every month, it just means beans on toast for a few days ;-)

Why would they support something that they don’t actually participate in.A lot on here I’d say believe they should be paid for there input from all those years sat reading in there arm chairs lol.

Wow.

Perhaps the most patronising post of the month (and that takes some beating).

Thanks, but the odds I quoted are in relation to the GWCT draw - which are 1,500:1

Maybe add that to your 'thinking about subscribing' agenda this morning...:-|
