I bought a deer sledge from Bushwear it was the large deer on the description it said it was the rough terrain very robust they also did the stainless steel runners for it cost me just short of 250 quid I’ve put the runners on Screw seemed a bit short to take the runner this Nuts and washers be me Son eventually got them on and obviously with lockdown have had much chance to use it I’m actually only ever had two dear in it last time I used it I noticed that the The washers and nuts the plastic was cracking all around them as I’m a professional joiner by trade obviously and not screw and washer is not beyond my ability and the screws all flush with the top of the nut therefore I have not been overtightened I’ve contacted Bushwear and they come back saying they and their opinion it has been all the over tightened i’m just wondering if anybody else up there is heard about this walk on the cross at themselves please find attached photographs many thanks

Have to admit mate ,it does look like the only week points are where you’ve tightened the bolts but unless there was a torque setting to adhere to who’s to say whats overtightened .They should replace that and supply far bigger shaped washers to prevent same happening .Poor design if thats the result of DIY assembly .
Cant see any self locking design either so slackening was always on the cards .

It looks to me that the screws provided are too short and as a result tightening the nuts until they are flush with the top of the screw has cracked the plastic.
Very true my friend you hit the nail right on the head

Totally agree mate I put it in the email to Bushwear and as always they try and read all the way out of it they advertise it as the best of a rocky rough trade it is only about three mil plastic hence that’s why I bought the stainless steel runners

Thanks that mate I thought there be other people have the same problem You think that if it was an issue did great rates and stop trying to fob customers off

Can't remember when, but someone posted buying a sledge fron one supplier and the rails from another due to stock availability and I don't remember the make, but the outcome was the same.

I'd say that the plastic and metal have different expansion/contraction rates causing cracking
Thank you for that mate all the **** nation really helps

You may be able to get a bit more life out of it by taking it apart. Drill out the holes slightly. Get some longer screws and and use large washers under the head of the screw and under the nut.
I always work on having two threads through the nut minimum which was never going to happen with them and should have sent out a red flag really.

Yeah you’re right understand what you mean about more but you think that Bushwear will accept responsibility and get the supplier-to correct The problem but thank you so much for your advice mate

That is the same problem my friend has with his, he purchased his with steel runners.
I bought one off here recently that didn't come with runners, I had already decided to make my own, seeing that it has only reinforced my decision.
Back to Bushwear and argue your case.
Cheers
Richard
