I know I'm late to the party, but I'm thinking of buying my first thermal spotter - to be used just for stalking. Budget about £500 max. For that money I can get a 2nd hand Pulsar Axion Key, or a new ATN OTS XLT, which I think has a 17 micron sensor vs the 12 micron sensor of the Key - though I understand there's more to it than that.
My stalking is on mixed farmland, generally maximum distance I'm interested in is 300 yards or so, and my max shooting range is 150 yards. And I'd ideally like a unit that has a sleep/ wakeup mode so I don't have to wait a few seconds to turn it on each time it's used. And don't need wifi, recording or anything fancy.
Would welcome the opinions of those more expert than myself - which is most people....
