Pulsar Thermion differences

Has anyone tried the different models in the field
Are the differences between the Thermion XP50, XQ50 and XM30 Really worth the money
Is the picture that much clearer the more money you spend

I've had a XM38 from when they first came out and have been very happy. I use a Helion 2 XP50 Pro as my spotter and whilst the XM38 is obviously not as good, its good enough.

The XP50 supposedly has a better image than the XQ50 but they will both resolve the same detail in the target and I expect the images to be very similar at the same magnification. There are some comparison videos online.

Another option would be our new T-Ceptor PRO 35-3 made here in the UK if that is your budget level.

What sort of shooting and ranges is it for Bull?

Hi Clive
Looking to be able to shoot foxes out to 200-250m
Budget would be about £3k
Cheers

What sort of distances are you shooting with your XM38

I think the 38 would be capable for most foxing ranges. I have been looking at thermal for a while. I was out last night foxing, using a thermal spotter a HIK owl 35 I was able to if foxes and deer at further than I would wish to shoot.

Been thinking of a thermion myself but I’ll hang on a bit to see what is brought out this year, though I’ve got no need or interest in having a range finder on my scope tbh

T-Ceptor PRO 35-3 will do that under your budget (just). But you would be working at what I would consider the maximum 100% immediate visual ID range on a Fox. As you would be with a 50mm / 17 Micron unit.

If you can add just a few more shekels to your pot then the T-Ceptor PRO 55-3 will do it with absolute ease! That's topping out at 450 yards for comparison.

This will give you an idea of what it can do in terms of range:

It's a proper foxing thermal scope and what I would recommend.

HIK Micro Thunder TQ50
12 micron 640x512 35mk sensor with 50mm f 1.0 lens
£3k from Optics Warehouse or Blackwood Outdoors
Ask and you'll get a some discount off that price
It's far and away the best "bang for your buck" thermal scope on the market at the moment.

Cheers

All day long 12 micron 640 50mm with 3 year warranty over a 35mm 384 with 2 years warranty and industry leading aftercare .....

I'm using the Thermion2 XQ50 to great effect out to 250yds+. Blackwood's do a very good deal.

Cheers mate...

To answer the question from someone who has used all the thermions..

Yes the XQ and XP have the same detection range of 1800m in 50mm format, but I can tell you now if you put the Thermion 2 XP50 against a Thermion 2 XQ50 at the same magnification of 3.5x the XP50 shows more detail and provides a sharper image, so regardless of calculations, etc they mean nothing, the Thermion 2 XP50 still wins, the Thermion XM50 is now discontinued and had a slightly longer detection range, not as good up close as the higher resolution models but slightly better at longer ranges...

If you want purely the ultimate long range foxing scope, take a look at a Senopex A7 with 3 year warranty, 3600m detection range, we are in the process of developing new mounts also which further lower the mount height...we have just received A5 and A7 units in stock today, for under <£3k with 3 year warranty and inbuilt control, features if your an out and out long range foxer there hard to beat at this price point for this purpose.

Personally I use a Thermion 2 XP50 and a Senopex A7 on my rifles..
