Pulsar XG 35 LRF

Hi guys
I’d like to hear from anyone who’s been out using the XG 35 LRF for any length of time and what the pros and cons are before I take the plunge thanks

I've got mine for a few months now, can't find any cons apart of need of a spare baterry if you're out all day, just to make sure.

thought mine was broke when using RF,
but had my finger over the RF lens when holding it doh!.only other fault is the hand strap twists and the magnetic lens cover
flops about.

Hi pal thanks for that much appreciated funnily enough I just got a price this morning for one with neck strap charger and extra battery free thanks again

As above, grab a spare battery even though battery life is much better on these units, I removed the hand strap and put a paracord neck strap on, threaded the lens cap through it too so still have it on hand. Looking to get a flip up scope cover to replace it so its not randomly tickling my hand making me spaz out thinking its a big creepy crawly 😄

One other thing though at 2.5x base magnification the lrf at longer ranges can be a bit misguided so take a few readings and go with the average. Its accurate don't get me wrong but on a small target like rabbit or a fox at extended ranges the target marker covers quite a large area

Can’t comment on the LR version but I can’t fault the XG35 I bought had it over 6 months now it’s brilliant. Considered the RF version but turned it down on the “ bulk” element I wanted the smallest hand held thermal with a very good optical performance so that’s what I got

My only issue is blurryness after initial startup and quite sensitive to background light, much more so than my Track ir50, but I'm sure there's a technical explanation there. Mine is non LRF.

Put a Butler creek scope cap on the front lens as i keep it in a coat pocket when stalking and find it to much of a faff to keep putting the cap on that it comes with and also put a rubber eyecup on the rear lens to keep excessive light out apart from that well worth the money

I've only had mine since black Friday, got a good deal from Blackwood Outdoors, and my nephew ran it through his business and lost the vat. I had been using an Axion Key for three years, which I couldn't fault tbf. But the XG35lrf is a nice improvement. Like Maxwell mine can be a bit blurry for a minute after start-up, you seem to be able to see a negative of the 1st image it sees when it fires up for a while, it may have been the extreme cold causing this as it wasn't an issue last night foxing. Rangefinder is accurate. I'm pleased I upgraded.

Hello Bo

Glad your finding it good..

Have you applied the recent firmware update release this last week ?

Once you turn it on if you do a few refreshes in a short space of time it seems to settle the image quality, left on standby and then when turned on do same thing, crisp image in no time 👍🏻

Yes, I have mine on Automatic calibrate I think, it refreshes 3 or 4 times in quick succession. I tend to leave mine on unless I'm moving some considerable distance before needing to use it again. It's very misty tonight over the field at the bottom of the garden, and I've been watching two foxes coming into the bait station with the XG, couldn't see them at all through the NV007/Frontier combination.

Having just upgraded from the xq38 to the xg35, stuff close up is a lot more detailed. I’d say like watching tv in normal compared to hd…

As someone mentioned further up, very light sensitive, you can scan one way and get a nice picture, look the other way and it looks totally different, overall i’m happy though.

I was told to keep it on ‘normal’ and smoothing filter off.

Yes I would leave the smoothing filter off personally, it reduces sharpness...
