Puma Defender 110…

I have been thinking for a while about getting a 110 pickup.

I currently have a hilux for work to cover all bases but I’ve been considering changing it up and running a wee hatchback run around through the business and buying an old defender to keep for the next 30+ years for shooting/dogs/stalking etc.

Am I mad?

Are you mad - yes very much, absolutely no sensible reason to want to buy and drive an overpriced, old, dog to drive, unreliable vehicle.

On that note, I think it’s a brilliant idea!
Have a defender 90 pickup myself. 😃

I have a hilux and defender and 95% of the time the landrover never leaves the drive .
But I think we all need to learn the hard way and buy one !

300tdi do run forever bit with lots of maintenance and expense and absolutely not good for your spine both from vibration amd seating position.

Yes you are mad, too many electronics on a Puma and for that matter Td5's.
Better to get a 300 Tdi that's been rebuilt on a galvanised chassis that will run forever.
I would say a TD5 is the best compromise, 300tdi is fairly gutless and unrefined although is simple. Puma is just shockingly shite in reliability. Td5 is fairly simple electronic wise and can drive very well with a 180hp remap whilst still being reliable

Compared to the modern vehicles in our drive my old 130 TD5 is the most reliable. Needs a few bits every year but never came to a stop. Things are looking up though after some of our family sold their BMW's and replaced with older mercs.
