Questions about Applying for first FAC

My experience in the past has always been to contact the Firearms dept and talk to them , I know it's not an easy time at the moment but give it a try. Many years back when I wanted an open certificate for the first time I phoned up the Chief Constable and he said give me your number and I will phone you back which he did and talked to me for about 1/2 hour asking questions and general stuff. The outcome was my open ticket was approved.

Indeed , my fld had a terrible reputation for a long time but these last ten years or so some very open minded individuals have joined that department abs are both reasonable and a pleasure to deal with

Thanks lots of good advice here, it has been very helpful. Im gaining experience with paid stalks and will do DSC1 soon.

Lots of people suggested I join NRA at Bisley. I assume this £90 probationary member program is the right thing to do:

I think it's the only way as you'll have to be a probation member for s number of months before being allowed to upgrade to full membership and at that point you can put in for fac unless you have booked paid stalks or land and then you might just get a conditioned closed ticket with your own rifle
