Quick load help

Is there any quick load experts out there. I’m working a load up for my 260 and I can’t get speeds to match up with actual measured speeds. The actual speed measured with a garmin is average 2855. 130 FPS seems a big difference. I must of inputted something wrong somewhere. It doesn’t measure up on GRT either. Ive only just started with quick load so still figuring it out.

Have you measured the h20 capacity of your fired cases? Also input correct barrel length, seating depth and outside temperature? Some barrels are faster/slower than others....

Measured case and h2o capacity and the seating depth and barrel length. Can’t see a temperature Input anywhere or see level

QuickLOAD is usually WELL out for Viht N150 and 550 on its default powder values in most cartridges. That is it underestimates the MV (and presumably pressures too). Unless subsequently corrected as a result of actual results from users, QL's compiler relies on values supplied by the powder manufacturer obtained from 'closed bomb' testing. Viht's values are pretty well too 'slow' across its entire range and this is reflected in printed comparative burn rate charts too (based on the same sources). In many cartridges, N150 turns out to be very similar to Hodgdon VarGet in terms of charge weights and MVs. (Viht's recently revised burn rate chart shows N150 as three steps 'slower' than VarGet and equivalent to Hodgdon H4350 - which it most definitely is not!)

On a similar theme, QL changed its default values for N160 a few years ago to overcome the very same problem.

That's on top of any issues over case capacities etc as pointed out by @Border needed to obtain correct user inputs

Thanks for that I thought I was doing something wrong. Is there any where to put in temperature and sea level as surely this would make a difference

I’ve just put varget in with same load and the speed is near enough spot on.

Laurie. Can you tell me what you look for in a load when using quick load.
I’ve been trying to find 100% burn, minimum 85% fill, a rough speed of where I want to be and roughly 10000 below to p max pressure.
Am I on the right track
