Recoil Pad Shotgun

I have an AYA with no recoil pad or but plate. The but has a bit of shape to it and some chequering. I think the stock is a touch short for me so would like to add a recoil pad. I’d rather not cut the stock flat, I also don’t like the slipover options. Is anyone aware of something that can be semi permenantly applied? Perhaps glued, but can conform to the slight curve of the current shape. I also wouldn’t mind making a couple of descrete holes and screwing on if such a thing exists.

I have limbsaver recoil pads on all my gear now following a shoulder surgery

Can’t recommend them enough they are boarder line luxurious

They come in 0.5in and 1in to my knowledge but I go for the 1inch to add some length of pull in most cases

They offer precise fit for all different models as well as a slip on and grind to fit which might be a good match for your job

Thanks for the tip. Do you think it could be mounted to a non flat surface though?

I’ve fitted a number of kickeze pads, which are excellent, but all needed the butt flattening to fit the pad. Other than a slip on I can’t think of anything that would suit you intended use.

Maybe something 3d printed. A contoured surface one side to match your gun and flat the other to offer up a face to glue kickeze onto. So would look like a normal pad with a spacer

I had the same issue with my Aya. I rasped/filed it flat then drilled and glued in hardwood dowels for screws. I fitted a nice soft cervellati micro cell recoil pad and ground to fit.

I think for your needs I would make a dam around the butt with greased paper, put release wax on butt surface, then pour a thin layer of epoxy (with colour pigment of your choice) to make a flat surface. This spacer can then be removed and a butt pad ground to fit it nicely. Then drill the spacer and butt to suit and screw it all together.

Send me a pm if you need more advice in doing this.

Waw I would love to see the results of this. Provided the overall length of pull isn’t getting too long
