Red LED torch

I'm very much 'Old School' with my set up for foxing, but 'it ain't broke so why fix it'. I use a red LED rifle-mounted light (Sniper Hog), and I did use a red LED Tracer LED-Ray 900 for spotting .. right up to the point where I lost it :(

Looking for a sensibly priced replacement for the spotting torch that will give me good eye shine from Charlie at up to 500yds( so probably needs to be a focusable beam) without the expense of another SniperHog. Has to be something that will fit in my jacket pocket and must have a simple On/Off switch (not a dimmer)

What would you recommend ?

Only just sold them both on here. I have had both a red ludicrous lumens t67 and red nightmaster nm800. Of the two the latter would be my recommendation, esp for clarity at distance.

I had a NM800 but sold it and replaced it with a couple of generic cheap eBay ones. There really wasn't a difference in the beam quality but about 1/10th the price and they've lasted 5+ years so far. I did upgrade the 18650 batteries to ones from Torchy The Battery Boy and a decent Nitecore charger.

NM were great and leaps ahead of anything else when they came out but now the technology is cheaply available everywhere and you don't have to pay a premium for the brand name.

Well, last night was the tester for my nice new shiny thing. A whopping £16-worth of Chinese shiny thing fitted with a red LED and a decent battery that I already had. Eye shine from Charlie at about 450 yds (I think it might give eye shine further out but that was where I spotted one). Silly sod fell hook line and sinker for "Vixen Mating" on the IcoTec and changed from a very big, very solidly built and healthy looking dog fox when it stopped to stare at the caller 175yds from where I was sitting, into a very dead big dog fox courtesy of 32grains of Hornady's finest.

The cheap-as-chips little torch performed really well. OK .. it's no Sniper Hog, but for simply finding foxes at shootable distances it does exactly what it needs to do.

Put a link up please.

I would really like white or red LED for one of my T20 style IR torches that are redundant now I’ve got a Pard DS35. I just haven’t been able to find one. If anyone has a source that would be great.

Have you tried Clive at

he makes them so even if not listed, i would contact him and ask.

This is the one I bought. Pretty obvious that you can ignore the claim of 8000 or 9000 lumens, but it's pretty good for all that. Comes with both a rat-tail and a simple back-end On/Off button. The charger that came with mine is a piece of junk that went straight in the bin, and I doubt the battery is what it claims to be either, but for £16 all-in what do you expect ?
