Remington 700 Stock- Oversized recoil lug

Keen to hear people’s experiences..
just bought a 6BR, when coming to put it on my stock i realise it has an oversized recoil lug..

What stocks are out there that cater for this and are a simple drop in solution without having to try and file / drill out the lug slots?

Should be relatively easy to enlarge existing lug slot and bed, make sure the lug was fitted at the same time as the barrel, unlike the pos I was sold

For someone not so in the know… how do you go about checking that?

Make sure the proof marks are stamped on the side of the barrel, on inspecting mine, the larger recoil lug prevented the barrel screwing in far enough, my proof marks were located on the bottom of the barrel, something the proof house wouldn't do, or ask a gunsmith to measure the chamber for you if in doubt.

Enlarge the recoil lug inlet sufficiently to accommodate the one fitted to the barrelled action using a mill or at worst hand chisel and dremel (carefully)

Then bed using suitable compound and pillars

Oversize lugs are usually fitted as an upgrade (far stiffer) than the stabdard flecible sandwich lugs when conducting a Rebarrel on Remingtons or similar with the washer type lugs

Every time we design a stock with oversized recoil lug opening... they invent a larger recoil lug. Think we are at 9mm at the moment. Have the lug position 1mm back from the action line to accommodate for blue printed actions as well as allowing for epoxy to cover the lug.

If it’s an aluminium chassis type stock then I’d get it milled out neatly - I have an AICS that’s had it done. If a standard stock I’d either mill out or remove material with a dremmel, then bed with Devcon.
