Remington Ammunition now back under new ownership after 2020 bankruptcy.

It is shite. Got a friend who has used Remington all the time he has stalked with me, he got some more ammunition from the “nex ownership “ and it’s shocking
It can't be that bad or it wouldn't pass QC before leaving the factory.
Up until recently, since the early 80's anyway, I have always used Remington rifles and never had any problems culling quite a few Deer and Foxes each year even tho the general opinion was that they were carp !
It is probably the same mind set that has, or will follow their ammo.
In fact I found the Remington ammo as good as any of the more expensive super dooper ammo, not got round to using any of the new lot yet but am sure I will not be disappointed.

Hmmm.
Like everything else - built to a price point set by beancounters - remember the Remmy 700 trigger fiasco where a few cents per trigger unit ultimately bankrupted the company?
As a homeloader I do not buy factory ammo but I have pals who have had several issues with their factory offerings.
I have two 700s - the triple deuce has had tens and I do mean tens of thousands of rounds through it and still outshoots me; the more modern .308 came with a dreadful stock but little difference discernible from the much older riflein the important metal bits - it too shoots a dream. I have no plans for changing either - period!

My good friend shoots 243 and I’ve seen him shoot some phenomenal shots on 4 of the UK 6 all lethal and humane.

Since he bought the new stuff the shots are shocking 😳 all I can say is bloody good job he processes his own because the game dealer would have gone mental!

The rifle (tikka t3) is knocking on the been checked out and all is good, so that only leaves the ammo to blame

To be honest the thing I’ve missed isn’t the rifle ammo is the magnum steel 12b stuff, never shot a better factory load steel cartridge in geese than NitroSteel or Sportsman Steel.

Unfortunately, I doubt this will ever make it to the UK again even if they intend to reproduce it. I had some old stock 3” NitroSteels that were doing 1550fps, and at that they exceeded the CIP Momentum limits so they’d already ceased importing them before Remington went bankrupt..

The ammunition business has been back in production for a couple of years now. The current company owner is the Vista Outdoor conglomerate, but it has announced it is selling all its ammunition and components companies (much more than Remington) to CSG (Czechoslovak Group A.S.) which already owns Fiocchi and other European manufacturers. From the Accurateshooter.com 'Daily Bulletin':

Big news for the shooting world — Vista Outdoor (NYSE:VSTO) is planning on selling its outdoor sporting products business to Czechoslovak Group A.S. (“CSG”) for $1.91 billion. This will involve transfer of some of the biggest names in the shooting/reloading world including: Federal, CCI, Remington Ammo, Speer, and Hevi-Shot. The sale and take-over is expected to be completed in 2024. We believe Alliant Powder will also be sold but that was not mentioned in the news release.

This represents a big change for the United States. Soon America’s largest commercial powder and ammunition manufacturer will be controlled by a European enterprise. CSG had previously acquired Fiocchi in 2022, and soon it will hold a very large segment of the total global ammunition market with the $1.91 billion deal to take over Vista Outdoor’s ammunition enterprises.

As you can imagine, this has produced a great deal of (mostly adverse) reaction from American shooters.

Hmmm.
The more conspiracy theorists among us might think that if you traced the Czech company’s ownership out you could find elements of Russia or China in the mix. Cunning way of nobbling your enemy’s power or is that just a silly thought……

And reaction from the Congress. They're actually talking about forbidding the sale. <shrug>
