Removing live primers. Advice

foxyboy43, your " friend " must have been deaf already when it happened twice to him for him to think it was not loud!
When they go bang, it's ffffing LOUD.
Try gently hitting a primer on say a vice with a small hammer and will know all about how loud it is!!
Please take safety precautions before trying this.

The one I set off was pretty loud, and powerful enough to embed itself in the table….that was a Federal LMRP…from a .303.
Ouch!
Both of my friend’s primers were in my his Lee press - one was small rifle and the other large; there was indeed a significant difference in detonation so muffs are a good idea…

Rather stupidly I thought my resized cases were dry after washing lube away. However having primed them all I now discover that the powder in first case bald and they are still a tad damp inside! So will have to deprime and dry then reprime. Booger

Advice on depriming live primers?
I just fire the primers off, then decap - a lot easier :coat:

On a point of detail - never put live-primed brass in your recycling bins or Club brass bin - they have apparently been known to detonate at recycling plants with unwanted consequences. One of my clubs has very recently put up a very large sign warning of dire consequences for any offender….

My advice is don't do it. There's saving money and saving money but eyes don't grow on trees.

Cross the road quite frequently, use both my eyes. I ain't woke and I'm not risk averse, just not stupid.
Stalker 62 I thought they looked like some form of genitalia, were you cryptically saying something?
