Replacement butt pad for Tikka T3

I see there is a limbsaver which is a 1:1 replacement (model #10011) - but it is silly money here from Amazon (and shipped from the US) - going on £100.

Are there any alternatives? Maybe an adjustable one? I'm finding that the sharp kink at the bottom of the tikka pad digs into my shoulder.

Id prefer something which is a perfect fit - i.e. no trimming.

the t3x is a softer cushion rubber recoil pad and fit exactly the same as the t3 recoil pad,i have both and my only complaint on the t3x is the rubber is very grippy and sticks into the shoulder a little to well.but it does handle recoil very well. mine came with the rifle so not sure who sells them but i know they are circa £30 new,you could try the wanted section, some one may have a spare

Aris - the attached shows the Ts and T3X pads. The T3X is slightly softer than the T3 and (as you can see) larger/taller. The 'sharp kink' is more exaggerated on the T3X so may not work for yoyu. I have a Limbsaver Airmax (pic to follow) which is a lot softer and rounder, I also have a standard (#1011) Limbsaver on the way from the US - should be here in around 10 days and i'll post a set of comparison pictures.

Oh - and whatever you do don't search for 'Butt Pad' on Google and especially don't go Here

Here's the Sims Limbsaver AirTech Recoil Pad on my T3X stock next to an OEM T3X pad...

This is really soft and squigy, quite easy to shoulder despite being softer than the OEM. No alteration needed, it just scews straight on and doesn't have that 'kink' you dislike.
Because you can't go anywhere to try these I have bought all 4 variants and when I figure out which is the one I like the best, the others will be for sale.

You can have the standard T3 pad for £10 (or i'll swap it for the standard bottom metal/plastic bit) ?
You should be able to sandpaper off the 'kink' quite easily (or I could give it a go if you like).
Drop me a pm if you are interested.

Hi,

Thanks for the offer - I think I may well buy a limbsaver and save the hassle. That one you have looks the right shape! No kink, and from the sounds of it may reduce felt recoil too.

you said you bought 4 options, what were they?

I have the original T3 pad, the larger (sharper) T3X, the Limbsave AirTech and the Limbsaver #10011. The std was on my T3 lite, the T3X on a new stock I bought and the 2 Limbsavers are from the US. The #10011 is "in the post" and should be here in the next 10 days(ish).
The AirTech is squishy and does reduce felt recoil a fair bit (I have a .22-250 so don't have a great deal to start with to be honest) and both the AirTech and the new T3X are longer than the std T3 (which is what I was after).
The T3X stock is bigger all over and so the T3 lite stock is now languishing in the corner although it does feel 'better' with the larger T3X pad.
As soon as the #10011 arrives i'll be able to make a decision about which pad/stock combination I prefer and the others will be 'for sale'.

I think the #10011 will be the answer or I might take the T3X to the flapper wheel and remove a bit of that 'kink' and shape it more like the Limbsaver, the thicker pad suits me better than the std T3 (although it's only 8mm thicker so maybe it's in my head).... :???:

I'd like to try the AirTech on a larger caliber (if there is anyone near Lanark willing to let me ?? :) )
The std T3 recoil pad is for sale now or would swap for the std, plastic, bottom metal (£10 posted)

I have fitted an Airtech pad (as above) to my Tikka T3 in 270 cal, the felt recoil is noticeably less than with the standard solid rubber pad. I would recommend this pad for any medium to hard recoiling calibre in the T3 rifle. The Airtech pad is a direct replacement fit too which saves a lot of time and hassle in fitting.

I had the black stock dipped in a woodland camo pattern also.
