Nothing really interesting to report today. We hunted all the areas where we had seen antelope in the previous days and some new areas, but nothing to be found. The wind was gusting between 25-30 MPH and that might have had something to do with it. I’m guessing the goats were hunkered down in a depression somewhere. They gave us the slip today, that is for sure and certain. We explored an old abandoned ranch bunkhouse, it was in the middle of no where and we reflected on how life must have been for those that lived and worked there. One son used our emergency fishing pole to try his luck in a lull from the hunting. He hooked a trout but lost it. There was a moderate amount of smoke in the air from far away forest fires. This was our 4th hunting day and tomorrow is our last day here in this magnificent piece of terra. We still have two antelope tags to fill and my .264 has yet to be used for the purpose it was made for. It would be a crime not to fish these waters! We pass the Snake, Gros Ventre (Gro Vaunt) and Wind rivers daily. As I write this, I’m nipping on a dram and contemplating what we should do tomorrow. Perhaps hunt in the morning and fish when the sun warms things up????? Such a hard decision to be made. We drove 850 miles to get here and have been driving at least 250 each day. All of us are tired and we got a little cross this afternoon. A positive mental attitude was a bit of a task to maintain. Some pizza
brought the spark back and we will take tomorrow as it comes. I’ll attach some pictures in another post as the Internet here is spotty and I don’t want to jam it up.
