seems by this response they don't give a toss,

and if they bring out anything Digital that's as good as the drone I will drop mine from the top of tower here at work and go and buy it,

Dear Mr. Coleman,

I understand yourfrustration with the Drone Pro being made obsolete from 1[SUP]st[/SUP] February2018.
You are right invoicing the high regard it is held by many in the UK, and it is a shame that wehave made it obsolete.
Although we don’thave anything in the pipeline to replace it at present, FLIR is creating manynew products over 2018-2019, which may improve on the Drone Pro.

We will of coursebe honouring the warranty, which is a FLIR warranty (not Night Vision Gear’swarranty).
To organise awarranty repair/service, please contact one of our FLIR distributors, whoshould arrange for it to be shipped to our service partner in Germany, or toour HQ in USA.
For a list of ourdistributors in the UK, please see below, although Sure24 and Night VisionThermal UK are both involved in selling Drone Pro and might be your preferredchoices for this.

I would be worried if I had to send my AMOLED 10x that I purchased from NV Gear UK had to go back to them for repair (god forbid) that they would end up putting the FLCOS display in it.

I am in conversation with them but it seems they are not to Blame? REALLY.

and you can still get the original screen/display if you are willing to pay for it, but with the inferior one you are still expected to pay the full UK price, it stinks of sod you lot we don't care, and I have said so.

Honestly, we didnot remove the Drone Pro to reduce competition.
The people whocreated the Drone Pro at Armasight are the same ones (now at FLIR) who havedecided to make it obsolete, so it was not FLIR’s buying of Armasight thatmotivated it going obsolete.
FLIR can’t sellthermal weapon sights to hunters outside of USA due to ITAR restrictions, sothat would not make sense either.

You can stillpurchase the AMOLED screen version if you wish. Sure24 or other distributors inthe UK can quote you for this.
We only changed itto the FLCOS as standard, as the AMOLED is so expensive ($300 more than FLCOS),with very small difference in quality.
AMOLED as atechnology is still in its early stages and so very expensive for the marginalbenefits over FLCOS.

I would be sorry tohear if despite the above information, you still feel the same.

Another reply, with the comment give us a couple of years and maybe then we will have something you like, they just don't get it, some people in the last few weeks have shelled out almost £1900 for a scope that's got the same name but not the display, stopping production is one thing but ripping people of is a step to far.

Hi Mr Coleman

One reason forending the Drone Pro, is that we make less than $50 per unit, which is not anacceptable margin to work on.
Changing to FLCOSwould have helped a little with this, and the image quality difference issmall.

I can’t help otherthan to offer the Drone Pro in both AMOLED or FLCOS if you want to buy one thisweek.
Sure24 (Stu Ritchiestu@sure24.co.uk) or Night Vision ThermalUK (info@nightvisionthermaluk.com)are both offering it, so you can get prices from both if you need to.
The AMOLED versionwill probably be on about 6wks lead time. The FLCOS version on 3 wks.

The Drone Pro isnot the only good product we do. We have a new thermal spotter coming out thatis tiny and costs under £2245 incl VAT (BREACH).
It has a 12umdetector, which is new to the market, enabling the small size/weight and 640resolution image performance on an HD resolution screen.
It can even behead-mountable if so desired.

Give us a chance, though. We’ll bring out more new products over the next few years and hopefullycome up with some that you like again.

Tim

I think its tapatalk or something that making them join up.

sadly its just falling on deaf ears, they don't really care about the drone, the armasite ops that worked for them have now become FLIR employed staff, its also true that the current batch (last of) being sold have the inferior display but your still paying £1900 for it.

this should not be the case, and the people selling it should be doing something about it instead of lining their pockets.

bob.

Standard Americanski practice ,buy the opposition and shut em down ,no competition = more sales for our stuff ,no it doesnt your stuffs inferior that,s why people want the Drone pro you donuts. The yanks dont get it and never will ,Flir think we will all shell out for their thermal gear instead but a drone lets you see what you shoot a thermal lets you see heat sources but what is it ??

i changed from drone to thermal, no problems whatsoever with ID, much more productive.

As I understand it, NVGUK worked with Armasight to develop Armasight-based products for the European market, which NVGUK then sold at very tight margins.
Armasight then decided to sell to FLIR (not sure who made the first move), took the cash, and left FLIR with the rights and means to make a range of products they didn't greatly understand.
FLIR are presumably still in the process of getting their collective heads round that one, though they don't seem to be making much progress, but it's easy enough to understand why they don't want to keep selling a product they can barely break even on.
Last call for Drone Pros then. Get one while you can.

Bet the price of s/h units now start to rise!!!

Or go down, after all, would you pay many hundreds of £££ not knowing what after sales service will be like? It would appear they don't really care about supplying the sporting shooter over here, so why would they care about repairs?
I know I wouldn't buy one now, but perhaps that's just me.

But people do this all the time, we all know there's loads of ''ex mil '' pvs 14 and kites regularly come up for sale and people buy them
Granted there may be people out there that aren't over fussy on its origins that will repair them but I'm sure as in my opinion the drone is a good unit people will soon be advertising mending any issues that may arise.
