Return to the sport of shooting

Hi, I am a semi retired aerospace engineering manager, living on the Isle of Wight and making a very welcome return to shooting after many years hiatus. My previous shooting was using a 12 gauge mainly for clays but some game included but had to surrender my license as I moved abroad for a number of years. I have started again with a sub 12 Daystate Huntsman Regal HR in .22 with an MTC King Cobra FF1 scope and just gained my first permission for pest control on a local farm. I plan to apply for an FAC so that I can use a more powerful air rifle for rabbits at longer ranges. I am a member of the BASC but not joined any target clubs as yet. Been reading the various posts on this forum and learned a lot, hence the request to join. Thank you.

Welcome.
Since you are a BAS C member, give the Firearms team a call before you apply for the FAC. They will give you solid advice on demonstrating "good reason", and avoiding the other pitfalls in the process.

Welcome to the forum, good to hear of someone returning to the fold rather than leaving. Joining a target club is a good move and your first permission is a step in the right direction.

Welcome to SD, from an East Kent member. You and I share exactly the same career, although I'm not anywhere near retired. If you need any advice on your journey back to the world of shooting, PM me.

Hi, yes just love the lines of it, it just looks right. I will take the advice of steve Q and liaise with the BASC firearms department for the best chance of success. Thanks for the welcome 🤗

Welcome! I’m in much the same position apart from the aerospace engineering and semi retired bit…
Good luck. 👍
