Just wondering what other people have found, i have a moderator for sale , how much do you think it would cost to rfd to rfd.

The person purchasing the moderator from you sends you their FAC. You complete it and post it back to them. You then send the moderator to the nominated RFD and they check the purchaser’s FAC before handing it over.
Both you and the purchaser inform your respective FLDs of the transaction within 7 day’s.

Like I’m ever going to post my FAC to anybody.
I have given it to the RFD he took it off my license and sent it to the other rfd, they the do the paperwork. I think the cost is about £20. Been a while since i have done it mind So I might be out of date with my pricing.

Before you say, oh, but its too far.
I have within the last month sold a CZ .22lr, buyer came from Cornwall to Southend on Sea, and
a Beretta 20 bore, buyer travelled from the New Forest to collect.
Neither were cheap, just sensibly priced for what they were.

You’re also out of date with the procedure!
It’s printed on the FAC and there’s also a handy BASC Fact Sheet - Transfer of Firearms
Of course it’s up to the individual whether they comply with current regulations but as stated in the Fact Sheet, there’s a risk of committing an offence if they deviate from them.

Or just do it face to face as you are supposed to do.
Just because someone has an FAC it doesn't make them an honest person, you may like taking a chance, I wouldn't do it.

2) Have you done due diligence ?
If we accept that even FAC holders can be dishonest, what makes you think the same error can't be made "face to face", when all Orion is suggesting, is that the FAC is sent to have the details written in, and then the firearm/part is sent to the RFD, who will then verify the person is in fact, the owner of the FAC ?
This puts the responsibility back with the RFD.
Of course, you must do what you are comfortable doing.
My local RFD in Aberdeenshire charged me £15 to send a shotgun down South recently.
That's a good price, my local one here in the south is £25, but he does thoroughly package it up for that price.

I drove 190 miles each way to sell a CZ455.
OK, so it was an excuse to visit a mate on the way but it would have cost more than the fuel (@32mpg) to have it sent to the buyer's RFD.

So someone sends you their FAC, it has a slot to acquire whatever it is your selling, and one for a rifle.
Just what is to stop you going out and buying a rifle ?
Yes the sender should have used a signed for service, but many postmen will sign and then drop it through door, mine does regularly.
Now how does that get sorted out ?

Are you suggesting if someone sends me his FAC, to buy for example a moderator, and also has a slot for a rifle, I could use the slot to buy a rifle ? How ?
