well for a start, you are not likely to resemble the photo on the fac.

True, but if its a close enough you'd get away with it in many shops.

Anyway, What ever the law says I'll stick with getting in the car, always worked for me, and have travelled several time to Somerset
to buy a rifle, as well as to Oxford and Shropshire, and as Archer reminded me, Hastings.

Neil.

ha,ha, what are the chances of the very fella who sends you his fac,, looks even remotely like you, while its certainly possible someone somewhere resembles you it would be pretty imaginative to think they would be the very person sending a fac to you,
Its good to have options when purchasing firearms, and good to meet like minded people.

What are the chances the RFD looks at the pic properly, not to mention my pic is years old, and I'm not wearing glasses, something
I have been wearing for 15 years.

I'll not deny its an unlikely scenario, but why take the chance ?

So an out of date photograph was used when the certificate was last renewed?
Rather sloppy of the firearms department to use an old photograph as you supplied a "true and current likeness".

Yup it probably is, and in my experience RFD's are at least that sloppy as well.

Neil.

Bloody hope not!
I do these transfers a lot and although the photo's are not that great, I'd like to think your average RFD can tell the difference between somebody that looks like this
Grumpy.webp
To something like this:
Tasty.webp

I've never heard of a single RFD that's screwed the pooch as far as basic ID recognition is concerned.
I've pulled up customers for :
-out of date tickets
-"the dog ate my homework" absolutely mullered can't read a bloody thing tickets
-"oh, I forgot to sign it" tickets
-"I thought a slot for xxx meant as many in that calibre" tickets
and "what's a ticket?" etc etc etc
but I've never heard of getting it so utterly wrong as you suggest.
Please enlighten me

By the way, the first photo looks more than a little like somebody I know from a certain beleaguered shooting rumbinctious club but it isn't!
