Rifle only?

With the possible lead shot ban coming into effect maybe, I got to wondering.

As miserable a thought as it is I wondered whether I could forfeit all shotguns and hunt solely via rifles.
It would mean completely changing tactics and making numerous blinds etc but wadya fink?

I'm all for the lobbying for bowhunting!
Surely no need? You can still use a shotgun, and it will be more effective than a rifle for the applications you’re thinking about, no?

Alternatively, lobby for bow hunting to be legalised 😁

Won't it just happen and people will start using steel, depleted U235 etc. alternatives? A year down the track we will all wonder what the fuss was about.

Shooting pheasants on a feeder with a rifle sounds sporting, not.

Agree, they need a lot of spice, rarely shoot pheasants now for exactly that reason. Partridge however …
I’ve never found a way to make pheasant anything but barely tolerable.

Not sure about partridge - I think I’ve just messed up the cooking here.

Pigeon on the other hand! Absolutely delicious.

Brine your pheasant and partridge
Then plaster in Angus & Oink rub / seasoning of choice ..cook in stir-fry, curry or stew etc of choice .

Use your air rifle in many cases for bird. ?....still lead tho but still allowed

I’m using steel shot in my shotguns, not really noticed any difference to lead regarding their effectiveness and I’m working up loads for copper in my rifles for .243 and above. I just think we all need to move with the times.

Stalking pheasant is good sport. It doesn't have to involve baiting.
I prefer a proper stalk. And they make fine fare. They don't taste much different than chicken.
Partridge is nicer though 👍🏻
The pheasant was stalked until it got suspicious at 50 yards and I sent a 180gn sub sonic bullet through it's neck off hand.

Aye maybe, maybe. I'll keep using my muzzleloaders with lead until stocks run out or I'm jailed.
I don't mind moving with the times in principle but not when, generally speaking, it's down the pan!
