Rifle to Namibia via Doha

Hi everyone,

In October 2023, I am going to Namibia with my rifle.

I will fly by Qatar Airlines from London to Doha, change planes, then fly on to Windhoek (return trip will be the same in reverse).

I was wondering if anyone has recent experience of using Qatar Airlines or transiting via Doha?

Specifically, what happens when changing planes at Doha?

Does the rifle go straight through, or do I need to check it in again?

I would be very grateful for any help.

Yours,

James

I flew 2013 to Mumbai via Dubai with Emirates and took a target air rifle with me to practise with, it was removed by Emirates staff and left in the Munich holding area without informing me. Might be an Arab thing.

2 of my mates have just returned from Namibia. They flew Qatar. Rifles on at Heathrow and they saw them again at Windhoek, same on the return. Firearms go straight through.
Who are you hunting with? and what are you hunting?

If you have a look at Africanhunting.com a lot of residents of the USA travel to Africa with Qatar. You might glean more information there.
