RS60 for 6.5 Creedmoor

Hi everyone, I`m going to work up some 6.5 Creedmoor loads using Hornady ELD-X 143gr with RS60 powder. It`s listed under the RS Load Specs for this powder so hopefully will work well. I have the RS60 in stock as I use it for another calibre so seemed sensible to give it a try. Has anyone tried this?

RS60 will definitely work in your CM

Just know that barrel life can suffer with the RS60. Something I didn't bother about as it was a stalking rifle, so wouldn't be putting any more than a couple of shots through at a time.

I used mine with 120gr and 100gr TTSXs. Though know a lot of folk use your bullets and powder, so hopefully they will be along soon 👍

I use RS60 with 143 ELD-X and 120 ELD-M

Same as above, if you load it hot and eek out the max velocity you'll get less barrel life but how much if an issue this actually is cancelled because up for discussion. As far as I can tell no one has quantified how much additional damage or shortened barrel life would be using RS-60 VS RS-62.

I think it was benchrest shooters that fire long strings of bullets that reported a drop off in accuracy about 3/4 way through a season when using RL17/RS60

Bear in mind a F class guys drop off in accuracy and mine and yours will be very different beasts.

Thanks guys, sounds good. On with the development...
Just out of curiosity, what barrel length (presumably 1:8" twist) and final load did you settle on nun_hunter? I`m using a 24" 1:8" barrel. Looks like max load should end up around 41gr according to RS?

It's a Tikka CTR, 600mm barrel and I think it is 1:8. I'll have a look in the loft tomorrow and find my targets from when I developed a load.

I do remember developing the load in the winter about 4⁰C and noticed a big jump in velocity when shooting in the summer around 30⁰C

It’s lovely stuff.

I use 43.4gr in SRP brass, 20” Tikka factory barrel. I get 2760fps from 143gr eldx and wonderful accuracy.

I tested loads all the way up to 44.4gr, with no detectable difference in point of impact or grouping, and no pressure signs.

RS60 is great in 6.5x47 with 136gn Scenar 'L', 870m/s

I cannot tell a lie...it was I :norty: unfortunately, I glanced at the monitor after shot 4 and got all excited......'er indoors will vouch for it. She shot a 0.39 moa group that morning with her 223. There was no wind....

Any danger of the 2-stage or set triggers for the M595's coming back in stock? I did send an email some time ago...

This was superformance but I do use rs60 for 6.5.
Can't find results at mo but will check my load data.

Regards Gary
Useful info that Gary. Well done, good groups with a completely different powder.
It never surprises me how someone cant resist posting findings from a completely different powder on here. How on earth has it got any relevance to the OPs question.
