Hi I have a Ruger M77 ss the bolt jams after I have taken a shot I have stripped the bolt cleaned it then lubed it works perfectly until i Fire a shot the I have a job getting the bolt out can anyone please help.
Might be worth trying a different brand of ammo.Factory Federals thats all I use 243 100 grains
will try that thanksI'd give your chamber a good clean? Sounds as though you may have some carbon build up![]()
Its when I have fired a shot then trying to get the bolt outIs this opening or closing the bolt?
I used to have a 243 Hawkeye and the cartridge would stick when you want to chamber it if you were too gentle. The short cartridge and Mauser bolt needed a fairly swift push to close the bolt and keep enough momentum in the cartridge to not get stuck.
After 12 years dont think it will be the ammo thanks but thanks for the suggestionMight be worth trying a different brand of ammo.
Jamsie
Had the rifle 12 years kept in the same place never had condensation but thanks for the adviceDo you check the barrel for condensation every time to come home in the colder months or never?
Having beat the hell out of a Ruger m77 for donkeys years, I would give that chamber a clean. After 12 years dont think it will be the ammo thanks but thanks for the suggestion
yes a few comments have said clean the chamber thanks will do that today fingers crossed cheersHaving beat the hell out of a Ruger m77 for donkeys years, I would give that chamber a clean.
As a rule the M77 doesn’t go wrong the are bombproof, so there will be a reason why it’s happened
The Ruger m77 is the AK47 of the bolt action world, about popular as a kick in the bollocks, but you can abuse it, beat the hell out of it and it will still work!yes a few comments have said clean the chamber thanks will do that today fingers crossed cheers
Never lubed the chamber !When you lube the chamber, what are you using? Possibly residue forming a seal when shot
What did you lube the bolt with?Never lubed the chamber !
3-1 oil on moving parts then a smear of grease on the outsideWhat did you lube the bolt with?
Is it possible some of this transferred into the chamber?3-1 oil on moving parts then a smear of grease on the outside
