SAK Moderator on a .22 Hornet

A lad turned up tonight with his (new to him) CZ .22 hornet fitted with an aluminium SAK moderator, I thought SAKs were strictly air rifle/ rim fire mods?
Apparently the rifle and mod were supplied by an RFD who stated the SAK is rated for a .22 hornet, although I never witnessed it being fired the lad says it’s “bloody loud”
I can’t find anything online regarding this, anyone know for definite if the SAK is safe on a centrefire?

Not sure if right or not though.

Link below i understand to be the manufacturer's own website.
It's a rimfire moderator.

I recall reading they were suitable for .22 hornet but can’t recall where. I have a feeling it may have been on a slip of paper that came wrapped around the mod when purchased new but not certain. Definitely not the first time I’ve heard of this though. Mine was on a WMR so didn’t give it too much attention.

Fro memory I think sak may used to have said fine upto .22 hornet and then changed it down to fine upto rimfire eithier way I used one to great effect on my .22 hornet

The one I had which I believe stated it was suitable for upto .22 hornet was indeed proofed. Uncertain if that made any difference with regards to use on a hornet. One calibre I’ve never had. May look into it once the lead restrictions are known but thats another topic.

I think its fairly normal for people to buy unproofed moderators (especially airgun/rimfire ones) and choose to use them on their own rifles, but if an rfd has sold one as part of a package, that's something quite different.

SAK moderators used to be provided in proofed/un proofed versions, for rimfire up to WMR if proofed and airguns if un-proofed. I remember years ago my Local gunshop carried both for on ticket/off ticket sales.

If it was proofed on a .22 Hornet, it would be legal to sell with a .22 Hornet, if it was proofed only on Rimfire, selling it with a Hornet in not in accordance with UK proof laws.

I myself use a wildcat panther on my .22lr PRS gun, but I bought the .22 hornet proofed version for more flexibility in the future. on my .22 Hornet I use a calibre innovations moderator proofed for 17hmr/17 mach 2/22lr/22 wmr - but it would not be legal to sell that moderator with the .22 Hornet.
