Wanted: Sako 75 Action 1 McMillan Or Similar Stock

I have a stainless laminate re barrelled in .204, really like the lines of the laminate stock, though with a 24” varmint barrel, it’s quite heavy.
Can’t argue with that, my 20 Tac is heavier than my Sauer 202. But it is accurate and water/moisture doesn’t affect the stock.
I suppose it is dependent on budget. As you can get various gunsmiths to inlet an aftermarket stock for you. Finding a “takeoff” one that someone else has taken the hit on might be harder.

Profit margins, allegedly.

Unsurprising as they needed to make 4 (?) different patterns of actions, bolts (bolt face diameter?) , magazines, stocks (plastic, laminate, sporter or varmint?)

See they tried to circumvent that with the S20 but landed up making a knock off Tikka T3...

cant understand why they stopped making the 75
Berretta took over both Sako and Tikka , stopped the active competition between the two almost immediately. Then reduced manufacturing stds , clearest evidence the tikka 595 got a plastic magazine not a metal one right at the get go . Sako 85 lost the palm swell of the 75 , the key lock was discontined during the 75 production because of client screw ups i suspect over the cost saving .
Today Sako models are way more money or plastic trash, tikka are one action size fits all
Berretta make more washing machines than guns i think that explains things . Marketing comes before engineering and built in obsolescence is clearly evident .
Can anyone support the claim that the 85 is better than the 75 ? The T3 better than the 595 ? if they where both available new , might you buy a new Tikka T3 over one ? Costs being the same ? Price was the only thing they never dropped !

Are there any other manufacturers that make such things? I also have a sako 75 in .223 and am looking for a mcmillian or similar. Very very hard to come by I'm finding!

A very talented member of this forum made a carbon fibre Sako 75 Action 1 stock for himself, along with the only one to make it out of his workshop, which was sold on here not too long ago.

Yes I saw the write up on that, a splendid stock. It might be getting to the point of making / modifying one, when the weather improves.

I think the Key lock was a fad at the time, not even available on all models. Remington also had a J lock around the same period if my memory serves me correctly. Both history.
Re. Tikka 595 Vs T3 I read a comparison in a Swedish hunting magasinet, Vapentidningen. There the T3 was deemed slightly Superior to it's earlier stablemate.
I am not a fan of newer Sakos and think that Tikkas offer better value for money, especially combined with one of EDI s PSE stocks.

I dont like the later sako models even the 85 but i would rather have an 85 with a current short , medium and long action size than a one size fits all action " just bung a spacer in the mag" Tikka . The 595 Tikka especially those with the metal mags before they swapped to plastic any day, sometimes have regrets about selling mine a stainless / laminate grey blue colour but it was 7-08 and it was actually very hard to hunt down weight appropriate bullets or factory brass ( only Remington made it then ) . I note Tikka are a great deal more expensive today but apparently not so in the USA where folks have more choices and hence stiffer competition from other brands.
Pretty much over and done with most new rifle designs, they are designed by marketing departments and cost accountants frankly.
