Killed dozens of reds and boar with federal trophy copper and barnes tsx and ttsx with good results. Hornady GMX not so good.
I quite like the heavier options in .30 cal (160gr +)- but concensus on here will probably prefer the lighter stuff (I do driven as well as stalking through the season).
Trophy copper is a bit tough for roe and small pigs so I prefer TTSX all round. TTSX is similar but better all round performer vs TSX.
I have been experimenting with 150gr 7mmRm Hornady CX for longer range shooting and going very well.
I had previously stopped using copper for mountain deer and chamois after some bad experience with trophy copper and GMX (under-expansion).
I shoot mainly in France but there are also some very well referenced UK made bullets which others will be able to tell you about. I started using copper because I had to on some areas where I hunt, now it's pretty much all I buy.
308 is very forgiving generally with copper and lead , just match the bullet length that shoots in lead from yours and after a real good clean test it before you invest heavy on unproven ammo
We supply Fox Classic Hunter in .308 to several agencies who use Sako/Tikka rifles
I personally bowled over this chap at 285m with a 150gr 308 from a 20” Tikka
I would start with Sako power head blade first off. Haven’t come across a rifle that won’t group these sub MOA. After these RWS Evo Green (HIT a bit big and heavy for UK stuff in my humble). Barnes and fox also good, but I find that not all rifles like the FOX PPU brass and Sako rifles tend to be on this list.
Rifle needs to be very clean though if you have been shooting lead. As in plug the barrel and bore foam it clean followed by patches till they come out clean. Loads of people make the mistake of just buying a box and chucking it down range in amongst their old lead ammo. They then declare the non lead wont group as well but in reality this can just be a dirty barrel.
130 gr Barnes ttxs at around 3000 FPS will sort everything in the UK and generally really accurate if you let them have a good jump to the rifling - used weekly on roe and muntjac, and regular trips on the red. The published Barnes load data is also really good - they suggest a "most accurate powder" which is also pretty good
