Sako 85 bolt

Morning all

Before I phone my rfd/gmk and ask this question I thought I’d ask here first to see if anyone else has come across this issue and what the procedure was to solve it…

For some reason my sako 85 bolt (long action .25-06) is now completely operational when safety is on. Before hand the bolt would be locked down when safety on…and operational when safety flicked off…I noticed last night how ever that’s now changed and regardless of wether there’s a round in the chamber or not…the bolt is fully functional with safety on or off. The rifle doesn’t fire with safety on…and no it hasn’t been out the stock or altered in any way…it’s been performing flawlessly and I have a lot of confidence in this rifle so I’m hoping to get to the bottom of this pretty quick !

All screws are tight and nothing has altered on the rifle from what I can see…the only thing I haven’t done is stripped the bolt !?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help

I’d drop it out of the stock and check the trigger mechanism for non trigger mechanism bits like grass seeds, bits of wood etc. the trigger can be removed from the action with one 5 mm Allen bolt.

Sounds like the bolt locking plunger - sticking up at the front here - has got gunged up. Pop the stock off and give it a good clean.
