Sako 85 with a bad barrel. Value?

Why do you care if it’s pitted? The bore isn’t an aesthetic aspect of the rifle - it’s one job is to deliver the bullet with sufficient accuracy and velocity. If it does that, it doesn’t matter what the hell it looks like. Sure it’s irritating, but ultimately if it shoots well then so what? You’re going to end up paying a lot of money for a shiny bore, just for the sake of it. If you want a calibre change then that’s ok, but sounds like it’s not the bore that’s driving it. In fact it’s a reason not to sell - poor resale for no gain.

So long as the twist is right there is nothing 6.5CM can do that 6.5x55 can’t. It has a bigger case so in similar actions can be loaded up to exceed 6.5CM performance - modern 6.5x55 brass is as strong as CM.

A well sealed wooden stock is extremely durable, the joy and satisfaction you get from using one is higher. Also the impression you convey to non-shooters is worth considering - the tacticool image that synthetic stocks can portray really doesn’t help with overall public relations to the hunting community. It’s a small detail, but I reckon walnut makes it slightly more relatable
