Sako Finnfire magazine feeding problem

I have two Sako Finnfire P94S rifles, a Sporter and a Range. I have a number of Sako 9rd magazines that I use interchangeably in both rifles. They all feed without a problem in the Sporter, but now and then one will refuse to feed in the Range, the bolt will jam solidly will not go forward and pick up the round. After removing the magazine, fiddling and cursing it will eventually unjam and work perfectly for a number of magazine reloads before jamming again. I am not certain what actually solves the problem, it just seems to clear up for a while.

I have bought new magazines which work perfectly, other new mags play up and then also work perfectly for ages before they take a hissy fit and jam again. The problem is not ammunition specific, it can occur with any brand.

The problem can be quite bad on some days, at other times it never manifests.

Does anyone have any experience of this, or ideas to resolve it?

Had this with my Sako Quad. Bugged the life out of me for a while. My mistake was thinking the 10 round mags I purchased were actually 10 round mags. They weren't they only really took 9 rounds.

When you load that last round in the mag you can kind of leave it in 2 positions. pointing up slightly or laying flat. It needs to be laying flat.

Worked for me so it might for you

Sorted. Accumulations of bullet lube were causing the magazine followers to drag and stick intermittently. WD40 and cotton buds fixed it. The original Finnfire mags are also on 9 rds, I was loading 7 for benchrest.

yep, dirty little buggers are rimmy rounds, glad you got it sorted i always clean my mags and chamber on my finnfire, dave.
