Hi everyone,

I have never owned a Sako until. I came across a mint L57.
Certainly looks properly made. Anyone had one of these before? Anything to watch out for? This one is a 243.

Cheers
John

I had one for a while that I bought as a donor. Was a good rifle that shot well. Sold it when something newer and shinier caught my eye

Early Sako rifles are to be treasured!
They were (and are) extremely well built and will last you a long time if you look after them.
I have 5 centrefire Sakos and 3 rimfires - all exceptionally accurate and reliable rifles.

My list of Sakos, yes I did have two S491's 222's after an immediate guilt trip on selling one. Only the last one, Stainless synthetic 7mm-08 shot poorly and that was all down to the tupperware stock which was overly flexible and would foul the barrel when using a bipod. I would concur the older ones were built to a standard not a price. Each generation 75 85 A7 appears to be what they can maunufacture cheaper and more efficiently over the predecessor they are still Sako's and shoot straight but they lack the soul of the older rifles.
