Sako quality control

Some however is better than others. Some is considerably worse.
That's what I'm saying... Tikka seem to be a LOT worse than anything else so called stainless in my cabinets. I had a couple of Sako A7's that were out in all weathers and manufactured around the same time as my Tikkas, they never had this problem so I'm guessing that maybe they are made from a different grade of SS, although I assumed they were all made in the same place on the same machines with the same steel.
 
I have had multiple Tikkas over the last 16 years with the most recent T3 a year ago. Some abused as work tools to the point of embarrassment when reflecting back... but never did one fail, rust or cause me a single issue. Every one grouped well out of the box and only one (.243) was overly picky about what it liked to shoot. Maximising profit margins through cutting manufacturing costs will be the sole aim of any company buying over another... that may be the root cause of the issues highlighted. Ignoring your statutory rights to return a less than satisfactory product will only aid in making the situation worse.

It could just be they have dropped the ball on QC when it comes to a batch of steel for barrels. Who knows what Tikka/Sako would do as regards warranty, as in the UK, you can't get past GMK.
 
From what I have read elsewhere I think Sako/Beretta have had some serious problems with stainless steel for some years. Wasn't there some issues with SS Lite models failing a few years back?

If enough folk go direct to Sako with their complaints, then they might pay attention to what GMK are, or aren't doing, to add value to their business as the exclusive UK Distie
 
That is just a typical 'roll up' strategy for large corporations and allows them to dictate the market. They are associated with the GTA. If they are not meeting their obligations in regards consumers rights then it may be worth highlighting to the GTA the exact problems. Obviously there has to be a reasonable effort made by the customer prior to doing so with the ability to evidence same.
