Sauer 404 XT - Spartan Gunsmith Adapter Fitting

Hi

Anyone done this or know anyone who has? Given the design and the Sauer Allen Key with push fit sling swivel arrangement looks tricky.

Got everything I need but thought I’d ask anyone if someone had already done this successfully.

I’ve got the Sauer Spartan Adapter but prefer the gunsmith adapter as an option.

Any advice, pictures much appreciated.

Can I ask do you have any pictures. I have 2 Sauer 404s but opted for the Neopod set up which fits in to the Sauer hex adaptor

as above the only way to inlet the socket without interfering with the allen key is to set the bipod so far back as to remove any forward stability advantage
mount it externally for a better position

Do you mean with the standard adapter that comes with the bipod? Is that what you’ve done? Any pictures?

I have read posts saying the Salamanders coming loose during stalking trips, is that your experience

Hi Tazz, I have never had a problem with the salamander fitting on my rifle.

I have a Salamander adaptor on my 202 and am happy with it. The only comment is that it isn’t recommended to remove it too many times and it has to be removed to take the forend off. On a 202 it does anyway.

Have you fitted the standard adapter externally to a Sauer 404? Any pictures. Just want to see the exact position and method given the Sauer Allen Key position.
