Sausage filler

So I'm looking at getting a proper sausage filler, had a good look at various suppliers. To me they all look the same as the Bushwear one but vary considerably in price.

Can anyone tell me if the Bushwear one is all stainless with metal gears? Worryingly the instructions say to wipe with oil after cleaning, that makes me think it's mild steel.

Next best place I've seen is Butchers Sundries, but apart from the handle, it looks identical to Bushwears.

Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Weshenfelder Trespade best buy in my opinion , super quality and spares available . I use the mini holds 5lb mix perfect for home use .

Mmm, they are quite pricey and contain a lot of plastic parts in key places. How's is yours holding up? Does the carbon steel on the rack get rusty?

I have had the bush wear one for just over a year. All stainless what can be seen but I’m Not sure about the internals tho sorry. Have no complaints does what I need it to do. Have done probably about 15 batches of sausages with it in that time. Worked fine every time. Would happily buy another should it Break. Easy to use and clean. Only thing I have seen people complain of is you lose a bit of meat which you can’t press out at the bottom. But to be honest I dig out what is left and make a few venison scotch eggs with it.

go for a vertical one takes up less space and go more litres than you think

I have tried both the bushwear one and now have a trespade one, the bushwear is vertical the latter horizontal. Personally prefer the stability of the horizontal design and the vertical ones have a tendency to want to tip over unless you fix them down onto something.

Couple of G clamps round the table do the job

looks very similar to the one I bought many years ago off ebay.

This is my issue. So many look identical, but several save money in key areas; plastic gears, aluminium plunger, mild steel frame etc.
Trying to gauge the quality of those out there.

Probably going to go with the Bushwear one, as Ben says, looks to be stainless. Price is good for what looks to be a red version of all the others out there but with a reputable retailer behind it.

There's definitely that peace of mind. I haven't had any issues with mine from ebay if I'm honest. There's not much to go wrong with them, and provided they're cleaned and stored properly. I think I bought mine pre covid.
