Savage 110 elite precision

Hey everybody, has anybody had first hand experience with the savage 110 elite precision? Just looking for peoples opinions on it, thanks

They work fairly well, and tend to be very accurate. They will never be silky smooth, or appear anything other than pedestrian, but they do work. They are "the working man's" hunting rifle. No frills, and not a lot of refinement, but they get the job done.

I had a look at one at the stalking show on the viking stand and I liked it, lovely smooth action and the bolt handle upgrades already fitted like you'd want, much much better than a regular 110. The only down sides I could see are you're paying nearly 3k for a savage and I predict it to be a struggle to shift on in the second hand market if you wanted rid after a while

Your comment made me go look at the actual model (I was thinking plain jane 110). Still, you are correct. That is a steep price for something that will most likely be hard to recoup any money on, if a person wants to sell it.

If the OP is looking for a tactical/target rifle, there are better options out there IMHO. For that kind of money, you could almost get a Zermatt Origin action and MDT chassis. Then add a barrel, trigger and mags. The Zermatt Origin is what the Savage action should have become over time, if Savage had ever had the urge to improve their design. The Origin action can even take the exact same barrels as a Savage, if they want to use a barrel nut instead of a shouldered barrel.

Yeh can completely understand that with the factory price currently looking at a second hand one which is reason for the post, lovely looking rifle but suppose any rifle can look good in a chassis, never had my hands on one to feel the action ect

With that price I would pick up a tikka and get 2nd hand stock for it
MDT has also released their new economy chassis. Similar price point to the KRG Bravo, but with more traditional lines like their ACC chassis, and designed as more of a cross over stock (tactical/hunting). Not sure if they have made it across the pond yet, but they're starting to appear here in the US more often.

No, I'm referring to this:

https://mdttac.com/mdt-field-stock-chassis-system/

I've gotten a few emails about it over the past few weeks. It's fairly basic, but since it has M-Lok all over it, it has the modularity to cross over between hunting (very few, if anything added to it) to full blown light tactical rig (M-Lok ARCA rail, stage saver, etc.). It's an interesting take on a low budget. modular system, similar to the KRG Bravo.

Savage (and other manufacturers using certain MDT chassises) have upper hand in PRS shooting, since depending on the rule book they fall into factory class. And same rifle could be used for Limited (or whatever the 308 class is called in the rules) with a barrel change.

Of course that is relevant only if the discipline is established and matches recognize other classes than open.
