Firstly I don't trust the mechanics. With a bolt action you can see that it is closed. Secondly all the Heym SR30 I have handled seemed a bit stiff. The second hand 243 SR30 I have is very stiff and therefore I have not fired her yet.Out of curiosity Edi, what don't you like about straight-pulls?
I have no experience of them myself, but imagine that the locking mechanism on a good bolt action is stronger and more reliable? They've certainly stood the test of time!
Yes in theory they are very strong if the locking mechanism is engaged. The German hunter who lent me a Blaser for a driven hunt, said I should slam it closed as one never knows with those actions... great.
