Schultz & Larsen Victory versus Heym SR30?

Out of curiosity Edi, what don't you like about straight-pulls?

I have no experience of them myself, but imagine that the locking mechanism on a good bolt action is stronger and more reliable? They've certainly stood the test of time!
Firstly I don't trust the mechanics. With a bolt action you can see that it is closed. Secondly all the Heym SR30 I have handled seemed a bit stiff. The second hand 243 SR30 I have is very stiff and therefore I have not fired her yet.
Yes in theory they are very strong if the locking mechanism is engaged. The German hunter who lent me a Blaser for a driven hunt, said I should slam it closed as one never knows with those actions... great.

I have an S&L victory in .270. It’s a fantastic rifle. Really pleased with it. Steve Beaty is a great guy. Go and see him, you still be able to try the rifles out and make your own decision.

I would recommend contacting Steve Beaty at Ivythorne - as others have suggested in response to your post. I bought an S&L Classic through him as I preferred this over the Victory and gave me a bit more money to spend on my scope. I love my rifle - it’s very accurate - and Steve was very helpful, kind and knowledgable.

Heym have one heck of a good reputation, and are easy on the eye.

I have handled an S & L. I was shocked when I saw the price tag (in a good way), just a lovely thing. If I was buying new now it’s 100% the way I would go-maybe short of pimping a t3x. A mate who builds custom rifles (and has far more technical knowledge than I ever will) always says they’re the best factory purchase out there.

I've seen but never handled a Heym but I've handled, shot and stalked with a Blaser. All I can tell you is that I went to look at a S&L Classic in .308 yesterday and it's now in my cabinet awaiting a range visit. I still have and have owned a variety of bolt-action rifles over the past 50 years and in my opinion the S&L is probably the best made, quality and slickest bolt action rifle that I've ever come across - especially in that price range, which is a bonus. Put's a lot of other premium rifles in the shade, and by the way, bolt action for me every time.

Looks like Steve Beaty (Ivythorne) has a Heym in stock as well as S&L atm

...great opportunity to compare the two side by side!
