How much more Independence does King Eck and his crew want.
We have our own laws, currency and Government at the moment.
As for Gibson above with his speel about "if you lie, cheat or steal, you will go to prison" Not with Mckaskill in charge they wont. Think about his pious, Ricky Fulton Last Call act when he released Adul Magrahi the Lockerbie Bomber. And very recently, the serial wife beater MSP who was convicted on umpteen charges. A file detailing his "activities" was presented to the SNP hierarchy some time ago and they stuck it in a bottom drawer hoping it would go away.
And not to forget the building of the Scottish Parliament, that went well as did the Trams for Edinburgh.
Salmond historically often referred to and favoured the Icelandic way of things. They were one of the first to bite the dust in the worldwide economic downturn. And funnily enough, he does not mention Icelandic policies any more.
Just how much revenue will the oil bring in. A lot of the UK companies have invested UK money into the location and extraction of that oil.
Will Independent Scotland just evict them and do as Mugabe has done in Africa and hand it over to Scottish owned and staffed companies.
God help us if its a yes vote with that lot running the whole show.

You're not under English rule. You're a partner in a political union, not a colony. In fact the West Lothian question ensures Scottish MPs have more say over English matters than the other way round.
If you think you're under the colonial yoke now you should bear in mind that Salmond wants Scotland to leave the UK to become an "independent nation within the EU." That's like an inmate walking out of an open prison into a high security unit just so he can have his own cell.

steady down we are on reply 27 and 1 year still to go , i will be supprised if this thread lasts without doing a vanishing act , as for Shetland we are digging a tunnel to Norway,and taking our oil with us

i love the idea that a newly independent Scotland would have to apply to join the EU and on the basis of the economics on paper may not qualify!!

100% Correct those that mentioned SNP is and has always been a vehicle for Scottish independence long may it continue the quicker the better .

The country belongs to Scotland let its people make the decisions for what it wants ,the English have had to much say in everything Scottish ,what are they all worried about ( ? ) If we become independent, do you have something of need from Scotland that prompts ,all the don't break up the union chatter . Or is it we have something's of value you wish not to pay for .

And people have short memories. The car plant at Linwood, the truck plant at Bathgate, and Ravenscraig made no economic sense but were all established at the insistence of (Tory) Harold Macmillan to bring increased employment to the Central Belt of Scotland where traditional heavy industry was gong into decline.

If she thinks that, it doesn't say much for Scottish education. WW2 was won by a combination of massive US industrial and agricultural output, massive Russian manpower, British technical development, and heroism and sacrifice in occupied Europe. We were on the winning side, but its absurd to say we won it.

As far as I can see England stands to gain form Scottish independence. The chances of our country ever again having to suffer a socialist government in Westminster will be greatly reduced without Scottish votes. I wish you'd get on with it. I might even move to Scotland myself for a year so I can vote yes. I could buy a croft on Harris and get a grant from the Scottish office to grow wind turbines. Then as the heather disappears under Romanian shanty towns and the bank notes turn into Euros, scarper sharpish so I can get home in time to vote for Nigel Farage.

Like most politcal manoeuvres it will only benefit a small political and social elite with vested interests. The common man will still struggle and fend for himself and his family. I can't stand the braveheart mentality. The Scots have been dumbed down. We produced the likes of Hume, Clark, Burns, Jones and Fleming. Now we have Salmond, MacAskill and Sturgeon rabble - rousing. Salmond's wife apparently refers to herself as the first lady of Scotland. These people are not to be trusted. I'm not against independence per se but question the architects of independence.

On a more serious note I think like Wales, Scotland would suffer hugely if it separated from the Union, think of all the jobs that would go in the MOD sites because the new Scottish government wouldn't be maintaining them, the cost of setting up an infrastructure for Health, PAYE, tax, DVLA, along with many other things would be astronomical, & who would suffer to pay for this, not the English, or Salmon & his cronies but the Scottish people, espically those who need the help the most, I just can't see it working, it's a great Idea in the romantic sense but practically it's a disaster waiting to happen, I'm not saying its not possible, but there is strength in numbers, and it needs to be thought through in far more detail & those details & facts presented in plain terms to the Scottish people & garranteed entry to the EU (after a referendum ) assured before the people of Scotland are forced to decide their fate.

Again I believe this is still a free country, live where you wish and vote how you like .

As for the shanty towns I think it is time someone in Westminster had a look at England's culture or what is left of it ,the multi cultural society has wrecked England, the people are wakening up to this and like you have mentioned Nigel farge is on the up and up ,ever wonder why .

For those that don't want independence it is a simple process turn up on the day and vote, x in the box you wish.
