Seeland gear

I bought trousers and the inside lining has ripped after 2 uses. Exceptionally poor quality in my opinion.

Anyone use Seeland Marsh gear - needing a new shooting suit and don't what to pay Harkila prices!

As with anything in life you get what you pay for, Harkila Pro Hunter suit is now in its 6th year of hard use and all zips, poppers and buttons remain working and intact..... say no more.

atb WB.

I had a look at a pair of Marsh trousers last year, I thought that they might be a bit too noisy for stalking, don't know how they work out in practice as I got a pair of Keeper instead.

We have been selling Seeland now for 10 years and almost never get any clothing back due to a manufacturing fault. The normal rule of thumb for Seeland is the trousers are slimmer and the jackets bigger.
Ripped out crotches are very very rare and those we do see are because the trousers where too tight or worn to low so the fulcrum point was too low, meanting all the stress of climbing went into the crotch seam rather than the leg seams and around the seat seam where it should go.

Keeper, Exeter Advantage and Marsh are all siblings and the trouser styles are identical, but using different cloth. All three are waterproof to 10,000mm
Keeper is the softer quieter cloth, Exeter Advantage a little firmer and Marsh is a tough shell cloth.
Marsh is designed with all the wear points reinforced

The first question we would ask Slider is what kind of shooting are you doing or planning to do. We often say to customers in the store, Harkila is excelllent and is high performance, but if your only doing occassional formal shoots on a peg, then its way way over engineered. Harkila is an investment and looked after, will last many years. So £1 year for £1 year, depending on what you are doing, will be good value, but more often as not, Marsh is a really good choice.

It is noisier than its siblings, so if you are stalking then this is not the jacket or trouser. Go for Keeper or Exeter Advantage.

Let us know a bit more about your shoots, so we can better advise.

All the best
Andrew

i bought seeland keeper suit when it first came out years ago, it was great waterproof and hard wearing . roll on a few years i bought another keeper suit and it was total rubbish. the quality seems to have taken a nose dive, i would never buy seeland gear now

The seam stitching on the Keeper trousers isn't that good but its loads cheaper to use a needle and thread than it is to buy the more robust Harkila stuff.

Thanks Andrew,

Do a bit of recretional stalking and also pheasants (this is a DIY syndicate with no "fancy" dress code).

Currently use Country Covers gear (Fortis I think it is called now). Trousers have been ripped and patched a few times from getting snagged on barded wire. This kit has done - jacket keeps all but the heaviest of rain out, trousers tend to let in water in the crotch area on occasions.

Forget both of harkila and seeland. Get falljraven stuff instead miles better lasts longer and is better value for money. It's all I wear now for stalking, picking up and my falconry. Lapland hybrid trouser and anorak no 8 or 10. It's all you will ever need in the uk

I'm a gamekeeper, got the pro hunter jacket. bought the seeland marsh trousers after reading reviews saying they where nearly as good as harkila. but they are no where the same quality. if you want to used them alot then don't waste your money.

I am on fortis trousers that are very hard wearing and waterproof, but not as breathable as I would like.

I am yet to find the perfect trousers!

I bought a seeland marsh jacket leaked from the first day couldn't be bothered to return it,
now I wear ex army goretex over the top of it but we do go out in some nasty nasty weather
