Does anyone have recent experience of taking a rifle to Spain and what is needed in terms of firearms permit on arrival. Grateful for practical experience and advice.. Thanks
@Fiamhor - I have no direct experience of this but having looked into it via an outfitter (not the one in the link below) it’s sounds a pain. The link below isn’t perfect English but gives you an idea;
Spainsafaris is a leading hunting outfitter in Spain providing exceptional opportunities across the country for all the Spanish game, including the Spanish Ibex.

I’m out there at the end of the month so will ask the guide if the above description sounds right.
@Fiamhor - Having talked to the guide at the end of my trip last week, the above link is essentially correct. The process is to obtain an invitation letter from the outfitter with dates for your trip, then contact the Spanish Embassy in London (for UK residents) to arrange a time to visit IN PERSON to provide them with the invitation letter and a copy of your FAC. The embassy then takes 4 to 8 weeks to organise and send you the necessary paperwork to enable you to take your firearm into Spain. Allow plenty of time for this process. If you live a significant distance from the embassy they may allow you to submit your invitation letter and FAC via email but it's extremely rare. If you already have an outfitter in mind they will be able to help you.
Very much so! I got to experience the ease of the EFP a few times and now have stopped taking my rifle abroad as it's such a pain despite desperately wanting to.
