Hi - Am thinking of visiting the shooting show at the NEC in a couple of weeks time but am only really interested in stalking, rifles, optics and not that bothered about shotguns, air rifles etc - anyone been to the show and can tell me whether its worth the 400 mile round trip?

Probably be better going to the stalking show, i went last year and I'd go again. I'm not sure I'll go to the shooting show because they don't allow dogs but I've never been to it before. I'm similar to yourself in that I have no interest in air rifles and I'm not that fussed about shotguns

Go to the Stalking Show, proper relevant stands, good demo’s (Particularly enjoyed the caping off demo last year), like minded folk, better value all round.

Stalking show HANDS down. The shooting show as become a “catalog show” stands are so expensive that the most vendors tell you what the “can send” you but due to price per square meter on the show the couldn’t bring stuff

BSS is what the organisers hoped would become the British version of IWA, never happened, ended up becoming a mix of B2B and B2C with high show costs and falling footfall. One onto more years and it’s gone, watch this space.

Is it a shame if it goes away, no, better shows are popping up such as the Stalking Show.

We need another Scottish one though like we had in Kelso, would be nice to see someone having another go at it.

Quite rightly so why people take dogs to an indoor crowded event is bonkers.

I took my young WHV last year to the Stalking Show to expose him to crowds of people and also surprisingly several other dogs. Living in deepest Herefordshire he doesn’t get that opportunity very often. He really enjoyed himself and so did I.

👍

Also the BSS bowed to social media pressure post the Cecil the lion frenzy and many of those businesses that had previously had stalls at BSS were excluded IIRC.

Looking at the Stalking Show, the activities and stall holders look more attractive to me as a consumer. Sample below.

Liked the stalking show at Kelso not to far to travel
Loved the old cla game fairs but sadly gone
Nothing of any note seems to travel up north
Proper north like Leeds or above 🤷‍♂️

The big optics guys are generally at the Indoor Shooting Show and a number of the rifle manufacturers but not all, basically a quarter of it is air rifles, another quarter shotguns, plus a quater of none shooting related “ Tat”. You would be better at the Stalking show

I think its okay for an outdoor country fair and the BSS NEC arena gives a bit of a sense of that - so I can see why - but I wouldn't do it (there's too much food around for mine)

I would not do a mile round trip to the current shooting show go to the stalking show in April loads better.
