Is there anyone with a sgc that would be able to transport a shotgun for me from Somerset to York?

Using either the 72 hour rule or signing onto their certificate

Be aware that TNT have upped their prices significantly and that Parcelforce have been tardy in setting up new RFD accounts!

Take the missus or girlfriend (preferably not both, unless very accommodating) and make a weekend of it. York is a great place to visit, especially if you haven't been before. Have an adventure! It'll cost more, but at least the money will be spent on yourself.
