Should it stay or should it go

So I had a flyer from work this afternoon that gave me enough time to go walkabout on my permission previous outings have not been successful plenty of deer about but not showing until after dark .I was lucky enough to bump into these two they had a fabulous buck in tow any way back to the point I dispatched the doe first then the follower I started gralloching the doe then realised there was no exist wound Looks like the round has stayed in the rib cage and destroyed everything in there also a slight Knick to the rumen I wiped the carcass out with blue roll and although not ideal give it a good clean with the hose pipe so do I keep the carcass or dispose of it ,the other carcass was fineIMG_4333.webp

I should think it'll be fine.
Would have been better not to have washed it out though. Best to leave 'til cold then trim off contaminated areas, not wash.
If you're worried about possible contamination of the body cavity and chest region you can always butcher from the back.

Hosing it out isn't ideal as it spreads any bacteria from the gut. A good wipe with blue roll, and cut away any contamination usually suffices well enough.

Anyway, enough with the lecture! Shoulders, loin and haunches will be fine for your own consumption. I would discard the rest of the carcass though

Thanks I kept the hind legs upright while I hosed it down thought that would keep any nasty bacteria in the rib cage I was not sure I had it clean enough with the paper roll oh well every days a school day
