Sieve for Tumbler

Just tried my new Hornady tumbler, it quickly cleaned the cases - what do you use for separating the pins from the water afterwards - partners sieve failed miserably.

I’ve got the old style Frankford Arsenal rotary separator - the new one looks like it uses a lot less water. It just works, well worth the cost.

I empty out the majority of dirty water then dump my cases, pins and remaining water into a large jug or bucket.
Then flush and fill with clean water to rinse the soap off.
After that pick out 4 or 5 cases at a time, shake the pins back into the jug/bucket and put the cases into another jug, repeat until all cases are out.

Drain the water from the jug with the cases, pop them into a towel and swing round like a slingshot to get most of the remaining water out.
Then pop them into the halogen for a 15 min dry at about 80-100c

The remaining pins in water, I simply pour out as much water as I can without the pins coming out of the jug/bucket them dump them back into the tumbler along with whatever water there's left with them.
Doersn't do them any harm to stand in the water as they don't rust, been doing that for over 10 years without any problems at all, can't see a need to seperate them from the water at all.

Aah, you're wet tumbling. I was going to ask why you didn't do what I do and simply switch the thing off, turn it over into a bucket and let it run again for a few minutes, but then again I am using an old Lyman Turbo with slots in the lid  All the walnut media falls into the bucket and only nice clean cases remain in the tumbler. Empty tumbler and re-fill with media ready for the next batch. Simples :)

I just use a kitchen sieve, lined with a cheap sheer privacy curtain. Water drains through, pins don't slip out the holes. Then grab the corners of the sheer curtain (it's folded over 2-3 times) to make a ball of the pins and brass, and pull the cases and pins from the sieve and drop into a media separator. Pretty easy and simple.

Lyman 2 piece sifter to take most of the pins out dunk them in clean water and then into the Lyman rotory media seperater I still have from when I dry cleaned take them our check all clear and then into a food dehumidifier to dry the cases

Reloading solutions does a good own branded version Separator.

No pictures as I'm sure it is a copy of a dearer well known brand (RCBS)
